XÌN – TRUST, LETTER FROM CONFUCIOUS
In ancient China, the symbol 信 was used as a noun (means letter), when used as a verb it means to believe or trust.
The left symbol "人" and the right symbol 言, which implies that the given word, your word, must be sincere and comply with it.
In traditional Chinese values of benevolence, righteousness, wisdom, and trust, the latter (trust or faith) was a very important component. For me it still is.
In ancient times, sages viewed trust as a noble virtue. From ancient times until today, truthfulness and honesty are a basic code for people in their interactions with each other and are fundamental principles for everyday life.
Truthfulness, trust and honesty are the basis of our own principles and not only means respect for others, but also respect for oneself.
The meaning of "being faithful / loyal to the given word" refers to take responsabilty.
Being honest is an outward manifestation of loyalty.
An honorable person will always "practice what he/she preaches.
Confucious said:
"These Values are not only important for those people who want to reach to these Noble Virtues, but specially for those people who are leading a country".
Therefore, this Moral Standard can be also applied for the self-management and be applied to your Business Values.
Interpersonal interactions with these people will be harmonious. Conversely, relationships will not be harmonious if one is neither Trustworthy nor Truthful.
Summed up in one sentence it would be: "There is no greater disaster than not trusting or losing confidence."
Values such being humble, Respectful for people and most important, being TRUSTFUL are the basis of my personal and professional relationships and those standards are based on the Great Chinese Philosopher, Confucius and its legacy.
